I have to admit that I have only tried the Pho but that is only because it is soooo freaking good that I can't imagine not ordering it. It comes with fresh basil, bean sprouts, Jalapeno peppers (that you add to taste), and the sauces are awesome. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is uncrowded and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend it.

This is my (true) pho story… & I’m sticking to it!

A few months ago I was sitting alone, minding my own business no less, at Sandra Rice & Noodles. It was my fourth or fifth visit & I was contently planning to order what was fast becoming my old standby – their sweet & sour chicken. It is awesome. It’s not fried, has fresh pineapples & multi-colored peppers & the homemade sauce isn’t fake, overtly or gaggy-sweet. Suddenly, a young, surfer-looking guy starts talking to me from across the room. He was all wound up about the pho. He explained that it is soup with rare beef & that he was from the west coast where he’d eaten a lot of pho & that this was the best he’d ever tasted. I have always enjoyed all types of Asian foods, so I sat listening intently yet wondering why I had never had pho, a dish obviously characteristic of Vietnam. He raved & prattled on about how flavorful & tasty it was for a full ten minutes... and, who am I to not be led into temptation? The way I see it, I was pretty much forced into ordering pho. (Pho “Pho-orced”)

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I had been pleased with the three items that I had ordered off the menu before, sweet & sour chicken, curry chicken & spring rolls, so I was up for trying something else. When my pho arrived to my table, I was nothing short of delighted. A large bowl contained a gentle beef broth that had hints of ginger & cilantro (along with other flavors I couldn’t distinguish – maybe mint? maybe lemongrass?), slices of rare beef steak, scallions & white onions. On an overflowing side plate, there was an array of fresh garnishes, including Thai basil, bean sprouts, a lime wedge & slices of jalapenos. Two small bowls contained sauces; one held a hot chili sauce & the other had hoisin sauce. I loved the presentation, the smell, the distinct flavors, adding the ingredients to taste. I don’t know if you believe in love at first sight, but I was utterly smitten.

They say that bananas are “quite possibly the world’s perfect food.” Hmph! Who are they anyway? I know that pho is the world’s perfect food! As far as taste, it just doesn’t get any better. In the last weeks when I go grocery shopping, no food even looks appealing to me. I don’t just want pho anymore, I NEED PHO! (Or, maybe I need to find a Pho Eaters Anonymous group?) Like I said, that day when I ate my first bowl of pho was months ago. My life hasn’t been quite the same since. I am a full blown pho addict. I believe I sometimes have withdrawals when I cannot go to Sandra Rice & Noodles. My honey calls me his “Pho Ho” (which was a bit more amusing when we thought it was pronounced with a long “O” sound, but we’re running with it anyway). We use words like “pho-amished,” which is one reason why we found this website especially amusing. Who would have ever guessed that others were creating & using “pho” words as well?

One day last week when we were traveling out of town, he suggested we stop & try “strange” pho... you know, just incase we ever wondered what it’d be like somewhere else. Men !!! Being the good & moral person I am, I of course didn’t want to. I explained to him that the pho isn’t always greener on the other side. He must have twisted my arm... the details are cloudy. I admit that it was good enough, but not even comparable to the pho at Sandra Rice & Noodles. I will stray no more.

At Sandra Rice & Noodles, the owners/staff are incredibly charming & friendly. They already call me by my name & I have seen a customer getting a recipe & going home with a bag of lemongrass. You cannot get much better customer service than that. It’s located at a strip mall, so it isn’t very big, but the atmosphere is calming with an Asian flair, decorated with Vietnamese artwork, Buddha, orchids & bamboo candles. Everything is immaculately clean. The prices are well under what I consider reasonable.

I LOVE this restaurant. The pho is amazing!! I've never tasted any better. Also, the Summer Rolls are beautiful--so fragrant and delicate and saturated with flavor. Such a great price for such great quality!

Sandra Rice & Noodle is a welcome respite from overpriced restaurant dining, cheap but gross fast food, and anything that pretends to be authentic Asian cuisine. My husband and I love this place and the owners!

Hubby will only eat the black pepper chicken with rice ("because it's so good I don't want to try anything else!"), while I alternate between the won ton egg noodle soup and rare beef pho. I love their home made broths - they're light yet full of flavor, and easy on the palate.

Their spring rolls are also done just right. Crispy on the outside, and burstingwith flavor on the inside.

I am now trying to convince Sang and Ha (the owners) to sell bottles of their to-die-for chili sauce.

This is by far the best restaurant for spring rolls and Pho in Indianapolis. The food is excellent and authentic. The staff is excellent and the cleanliness and atmosphere are top notch.
Try it once and you'll find yourself returning over and over again.

I love Pho... This was good, but not seasoned as well as many, and a bit greasy. The restaurant is remarkably clean, though. And the presentation was beautiful. Will definitely return.

While I want this place to continue to be successful...I don't want to it to be anything more than it is. Best food, immaculate, peaceful and inviting. Continue to bring us fresh food at great prices.

I have read about this restaurant - but had not made it there until yesterday for lunch. It was wonderful. The best Pho I have had since my favorite Vietnam Restaurant in Chaing Rai, Thailand! You must make it a stop if you are looking for a great Asian meal. The decor is very nice and the owners were very sweet and helpful. I just wish they were closer to downtown Indy!

48 minute wait on a takeout order, That is unacceptable. There is 5 empty tables up front. There is 2 empty tables between the next group of people and myself. The table of people were seated when I arrived. They too were served only minutes before I was handed my take out order in its bag.
