just had this place for the first time - pho'king excellent!

This place is a real disappointment given how good the original Mesa location is. I noticed the difference immediately when trying the seafood pho. The broth is more bland here and anything "scary" is removed (no fish balls, no curly squid). The beef pho was similarly disappointing. They're trying to make the place trendy and almost nobody was there. The one Vietnamese customer we saw had to explain to the server what fish sauce was -- "you know, the brown stuff." Stay away!

Dragonfly is good, but not great. The broth is fantastic and the restaurants themselves are much more aesthetically pleasing than most authentic 'hole-in-the-walls.' However, prices are in turn much higher than usual. My main complaints about this place are, 1) the Pho Ga is made with white and dark meat (personally, I am not a fan. The dark meat just doesn't taste right to me - plus I would like to avoid choking on bones in my soup . . . happennd once before), and 2) the appetizers are very skimpy, expensive and have unusual quantities (ex. the cream cheese prawn rolls are served with only 3 on the plate. In addition, the egg rolls come with "4" on the plate, but really its just 2 egg rolls cut in half.) For the money I would like to avoid having to split the last prawn roll in half with my Pho-buddy. A bit frugal, but I would still go back.
