looking for great pho
coming from hawaii where great pho is the norm and expected (or no one comes by), we were happy to find one fairly near our home in geneva...unfortunately this was THE WORST PHO EXPERIENCE I WE HAVE EVER HAD!...the noodles were overcooked and stuck together throughout the whole dining experience (did they make it last night and let it sit out?)...the broth was cloudy and questionable...the meat was gamey...and they didn't have any basil or cilantro tasting herb that are MUST HAVES when one eats pho...they offered lettuce instead of basil (what?!!!)...and the menu stated that the necessary herbs were given "when available"...this is a vietnamese restaurant?!!!...only one waitress who seemed unhappy to be there...the place wasn't very clean (one thing i usually overlook if the pho is exceptional)...
oh, and the spring rolls...well, we're used to a fresher taste, usually comes with mint and lettuce, but we used the lettuce that came for our pho...
we are discouraged by this experience, and know that if this were our first pho experience we wouldn't try again...PLEASE help us find a place that we can frequent that is fairly near, with the pho that everyone can expect...we truly feel sorry for those who think that THIS is pho...
REALLY, it is sooooooooooo much better than this!
