I have been in this place three times during different hours and days to give this place another chance after the first and second, and I am still very disappointed. This place was another kind of Asian Rest. and bar, they have not been running this place for too long as a PHO Rest. as of this date 8/15/2008. Let’s talk about first impressions, when you enter the place it looks dark, dirty and smells awful, like a bar filled with smoking cigarettes. You can feel your shoes sticking to the floors, because of the lack of hygiene. I entered the bath room once, and that was enough for me, dirty and roaches coming out thru holes in the walls, I do not want to imagine the kitchen. The place lacks of repairs and cleaning efforts. Now the PHO, the beef broth is dark but have a fair flavor, not fresh. The uncooked meat is sliced to thick. The well done cuts are thick, dry and chewy, making the experience very unpleasant. The only vegetables I have found fresh so far have been the chilies (sliced thick too), onions and cilantro. Every time I have been there the beans sprouts looks dehydrated, yellowish and old. The basil, if you are in luck to have it, have been always served with many black, burnt leaves. The rolls are fair in taste, but I have found the folding ends to be thick, becoming difficult to chew and swallow. I have tried one of the other items on the menu, like stem rice with char-broiled meat or chicken, and it was good, it was serve in a paper plate which I did not care after seen the “pets” in the bathroom and guessing about the hygiene status of the kitchen. This place needs serious repairs, a very deep cleaning and more attention to the preparation and serving of the PHO. Probably with those changes the place will get more customers, and more importantly, recommended and returning customers. The sad part is that this is the only PHO place I know in the area, unless you want to drive about an hour and a half for a great one.
