Brand new restaurant in Rockford and is packed all the time. The Pho is the best I have tasted in Rockford.

I prefer Lao Pho but this was good, they lacked the proper condiments, no crushed Thai chili, no fish sauce, no fried garlic and no Basil just Cilantro. And they served it with tiny take out chop sticks, come on. Fix those things and it will be better. The broth was almost too beefy real dark, I like brighter flavors. The papaya salad was spot on, and the mussels the best I have ever enjoyed. Just work on the Pho everything else was amazing.

This place is mediocre. When I first walked in, it had a cold, cavernous feel. Too many restaurants can't figure out of to get a cozy feel. A big rectangular room with tables just doesn't do it.
We were not even acknowledged when we walked in - even though three young women were busy at the front stand (too busy for the customers apparently). Why do restaurants not get this?
The Beck's beer I had was flat and the food was not hot. I did like the pleasant waitress and the short wait for our food though. I had the Kung Pao noodles which seemed too much like spaghetti noodles to me (did they run out of asian noodles?). The chicken was very unexciting. Basically, I could easily make this dish myself at home - nothing special at all about it.
Overall, the experience was ok but not worth the $43 we spent for two.

Why does this place have the bar sticking out halfway across the main floor? When we came in, we were told to wait at the bar because they were so slow to clear the 3 or 4 empty tables. Well, there were no seats at the bar because they stupidly put tables in the floorspace in front of the bar so that no seats would fit and no one could walk by. I had to stand in the way while the bartender totally ignored us (another case of the staff being too busy for the customers). This place seems to have no common sense. We left after 10 minutes of being annoyed. When they figure out how to run a restaurant, I might come back.

I don't know how anyone could say anything bad about this place...I LOVE this restaurant. Rockford is in desperate need of places like this the food is great the service is awesome and the restaurant is comfortable. (and by the way in the 3 times I've been there since it opened I have never seen Kung Pao anything on the menu or Becks for that matter). This restaurunt is Southeast Asian NOT Chinese and they specialize in Asian beers NOT domestic drafts.

Everything at this restuarant is fabulous!

The Pho here is pretty good. What I miss in it is beef tendon. If this were added it would be much better. I also wish they would not issue "carry out" chopsticks. In addition, it would be nice that instead of a jalapeno pepper that good Thai chili peppers would be offered instead.

Ok....I wouldn't know a good pho if it jumped up & bit me in the nose...
What I DO know is that the food at Bamboo is very tasty & reasonably-priced. Not being familiar with any of the dishes on the menu, I always let the staff make my meal decision for me. Everything has been wonderful. The portions are huge (if you order a "bowl" of soup, expect to be taking half of it home with you). I took my mom there for her birthday. The staff treated both of us to a free dessert (& even wrote "Happy Birthday" on the plate in raspberry sauce). They are also open late - & offer delivery service. If you don't like this place, you're just being too darn picky...maybe you should stay home & try to make it better yourself next time. Good luck with that....

Great place, I own a business down the street and all my employees love it.
