Pleasantly surprised in Iowa of all places. Owned and operated by the same Vietnamese since the early 60s. Rich home brewed beefy broth with the right touch of anise, coriander, fennel, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and onion. Owner home brews the broth early in the AM. Beef is not as thinly sliced as I have seen but there was plenty of it along with mucho bo vien. The cafe sua da was also some of the best I have tasted since leaving Southeast Asia in the '70s.
